I design and build custom go karts and also have a restored 1980 Yamaha XS850SG. A classic if ever there was one. I put the battery in my bike and it just won't stay up to par. I had intentions of using them for my karts due to the lightness and ease of maintaining them. Not gonna happen in this lifetime. Do not get this battery if you want a reliable one.

**NOTE from BatteryStuff** Battery was covered under warranty for manufacture defects. Battery did not perform as advertised and Shorai honored their 2 year warranty.

First off I am a mechanic with over 35 years experience in the field, covering everything from small engines to diesel rigs. I eat, sleep, and breathe fuel fumes.

The battery is light as can be, has a pretty neat design, and does not use acid. Thats it in the "Pro" column.

It refuses to maintain a charge for more than a few days, even on the shelf, without the charger hooked up. Not a good thing if you plan on using it for ANYTHING away from the wall outlet.

DO NOT BUY THIS BATTERY!

I will tell you The Shorai battery is all that they say it is and more. One thing I am not used to is the incredible customer support and the OUTSTANDING factory suppport. I had to get creative with mounting the battery on its side in my bike because I needed to up size to a lfx18a stronger battery, The factory reps were fantastic and worked with me all the way through. My bike starts like a rocket now and I have room for tools in the batt box . Very happy

The case around the battery encloses mostly air, since the actual battery is so small. I would be interested in just the battery internals and connectors in a compact case; Then the battery compartment could be used for storage of other items.

I will buy more of these as my old batteries expire.

Works great, strong start and keeps charge for long period between uses. Eliminates hassle of battery tender or staring/running bike just to keep battery charged (I have 5 motorcycles and hate rotating the tender between them). Phenomenomally light weight.

Fitting the spacer foam around the battery is a minor nuisance but once done the battery wont shift or rattle.

So far so good with this amazingly small lightweight battery. I have other issues with my 1981 bike at the moment but the battery is amazing.

Took some time to fill the gaps left by the much smaller battery, but the fill material is included.
