Purchased the Scorpion YTZ14S battery for my 2010 BMW R1200 GS ADV. The battery arrived within a few days of placing the order, it fits perfectly, has plenty of starting power and so far it's everything its description said it would be. The bolts that came with the battery to attach the terminals were too short to reach the provided nuts. I ended up putting another nut, underneath the supplied nut, so that the bolt could reach and tighten the terminals down. The other option would have been to purchase longer bolts.

Battery is a little smaller than the stock battery it is replacing, so I had to use spacer to fill the gap.

This is a geat battery at a great price. I currently have the same battery in my 2008 Honda ST1300. It is 3-1/2 years old and seems to be reaching the end of its useful life. I just purchased another one so I can have a new battery in hand when the old one finally dies. I have never had a problem with the current battery and I rarely use the trickle charger to keep it topped off at all times like some bikers do. I have not been riding that much this summer because of the heat so maybe that is why the battery is starting to go bad. I offer this advice to all bikers...if you own a motorcycle, the best thing you can do for it is ride it on a regular basis. If you do not, that is when you start to have problems. By the way, the CCA for this battery is 230 according to the label on it, not 200 like the listing shows. This battery is a perfect fit for the Honda ST1300 and a fraction of the price of the OEM Yuasa battery that it came with (which in my case did not even last 2 years). $70 for a battery that lasts 3-1/2 years...cannot beat it!

As stated in other reviews, my Honda 750 Shadow started right up after battery hookup. In fact, it did not require any cranking or choke, as bike had prior on old battery. (The electronic ignition does not like to fire a spark if the battery is weak when cranking, and bike had become somewhat hard to start.)

It could be my mistake...

I thought I ordered a YTZ14 and was shipped a YTZ14S. Only difference was the 90 deg. orientation of the pos and neg posts. I made it work since I didn't want to wait for a return order etc. It could have been my own mistake. I'm not complaining, just letting you know.

The battery was far more inexpensive than the ones at the motorcycle shop and, from what I can see, it was pretty much the same battery.

The battery fits under the seat on my motorcycle at a downward slant. The nut that holds the negative battery terminal kept falling out when I slid the battery in. The original battery had a plastic piece that bent when you put the nut in and held it in place. I had to use JB Weld to keep the nut in the terminal. No big deal, just food for thought.

I called battery stuff last year and asked what the smallest battery at around 200cca was, and this is what they told me. I had called a few other battery dealers from the internet and got, hmmm, not sure, I'll do some checking and get back to you, battery stuff told me what I needed within seconds. Since I got such great service I have bought another battery and a charger from them. The only thing I am not so pleased with is the first battery only lasted one race season and the racer was stored in the garage all winter and was charged up before putting it away.

It is small and not much weight on my lawn mower racer.

Bought one last year and only lasted one year.

I have used two of these in my ST1300 and both have left me stranded when I accidently left the key on for more than one minute without the motor running. The batteries load test fine, they just are not powerful enough for a ST1300. Work great in my VFR and my buddie's Kawasaki 750.

The battery I bought for my KTM SMT990 did fit very well,was relatively easy to install though the original bolts would not fit.So far so good,haven't put too many miles on it yet,hope to get many miles and years out of the battery.

THE ORIGINAL BOLTS FOR THE BATTERY CABLES DID NOT FIT THE BATTERY I BOUGHT.Kind of a pain in the butt to have to go to the hardware store to get much smaller bolts and nuts to get my battery to work after ordering by make,model and year,I expect a more exact fit.

Only had the batt for a few weeks but have used it regularly and the bike (VT1100c3) starts much faster and seems to run better than with the old battery. This, however, is expected from a new battery. We'll see what happens after a season but it is well worth the price so far. I am also extremely impressed with the shipping! Will buy again.

I've had this battery fmor two years now. I had problems with my regulator/rectifier on my Honda Shadow. This battery must have run down because of the r/r problem at least 15 times. I could ride it to my business, 11 miles, and the motorcycle would actually die because of it not charging. I had changed the r/r using a Honda part but still had problems. I then bought a Mosfet regulator/rectifier from Rodstercycle.com and that solved my problems. This is a fantastic r/r because it is hooked up diferently. Solved my problem and the YTZ14S Scorpion battery lives on.

I did send in all the test results that the customer service asked and the answer was the battery performed as designed.I can't see a good reason for it to discharge that fast to that level unless it was defective or poor/cheap quality.Looking into better quality in the future is the alternative of buying cheap lead.

***Note From BatteryStuff - The charging system on a motorcycle is RPM based, so simply starting the bike every couple of weeks and not riding it will eventually pull enough energy out of the battery to end up with a dead battery. While the bike is at idle the stator is just keeping up with the draw the bike needs to stay running, and is not charging the battery enough to get it back to fully charged after each start. I would suggest using a charging maintainer to keep you battery fully charged over starting the bike and letting it sit idling.***

I installed it upon arrival and started the motorcycle;idling for about 1 hour.

A week later , done the same thing for same amount of time.

Two weeks later ,without using a maintainer/charger, the battery was completely discharged.

I performed the "parasitic load test" and none found.

Now I keep the battery on the charger constantly.

Before submitting a review on the Scorpion, I wanted to note the life (3 years so far) of the most recently purchased Yuasa battery.

The Scorpion was installed as the third of four batteries in a 2002 Honda VTR1000F SuperHawk (purchased in November of 2002).

The OEM (Yuasa) lasted 7 years, a Batteries Plus brand lasted 1 year, followed by the Scorpion for 2 riding seasons, and the current Yuasa, which I just put on the smart charger for the winter should be ready for its 4th year of service in the spring.

Despite regular maintenance on a properly functioning "smart charger" the Scorpion earned a star per year for its grade.

The charging system on the bike performs to spec, so the remaining variable, the battery, has proven to be, well, rather variable, with the Scorpion coming in at 2nd place.

I had a better experience with a different Scorpion battery on a different bike, so the one under review could have slipped through QC. . . (?)

I just bought my 3rd Scorpion YTZ14S for my 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 DC. My first one was purchased in 2013 and the second one was purchased in 2018. These batteries have served me well, they hold a charge for a long time which is perfect for a motorcycle that sits for extended periods of time between rides and each one has lasted me 5 years or more.

This is the 4th scorpion battery I've bought in about 8 years, but only the SECOND for my 1984 Shadow VT700C. I say only, because the last time I bought this battery for my Shadow was 8 YEARS AGO. Yes, it lasted 8 years and for the price is absolutely unbeatable. It's the longest I've ever had a motorcycle battery last, and that's why I bought 2 more for 2 of my other bikes. Amazing battery, I cannot say enough about it. My words are not enough. Great job!!!!

This was my first time using a maintenance-free battery.

I got my first motorcycle 50 years ago this past July. Been riding ever since, but I am getting old now. My bike is 20 years old this year. I don't ride as much these days, so maintenance is not as easy as it used to be. Cost is also important to me these days too as I am retired.

I guess I was old school and always bought the traditional battery. I wish I knew earlier about the pleasures of maintenance-free.

My 83 Shadow requires extra cranking power to start, and this battery is designed specifically to deliver that power. This is my second battery from batterystuff, and I got almost 6 years out of the first one...much longer than I was getting from wet cell batteries. And it's about 25% cheaper than I was paying at my bike shop. This is the only battery I'll be buying from now on for my bike.

I ordered one of these batteries for use in my ST1300 in 2016. It was working fine when I replaced it with another in 2019. I don't trust these size batteries much longer than that at least in this application. The last battery I had which was the standard brand only lasted two years and cost over twice as much. I think the scorpion brand is as good as any and a good value.

Installation was complicated because of small rectangular nuts that rotated or fell over as I tried to attach the battery cables. They are to small or need larger octagon or square shape.

I've been using this battery for a while and it starts my bike with not trouble every single day (I'm a daily rider). I've just completed a major test with this battery where I left my bike at the airport parking lot for a month (an annual event for me). Upon my return, the battery primed all of the fuel that evaporated from the carburetor and fuel line (electric fuel pump was running full bore) and started the bike with no problems. With some other batteries (even a Yuasa) I had to kick start my bike when I returned to the airport.

Kind of screwy getting the battery bolt into the nut at the battery terminals.

Battery arrived discharged. I normally charge all new batteries prior to installing but web site indicated clearly that battery would arrive charged. I skipped my normal routine and installed immediately. Bad move. But again, once charged battery is doing well.

I really thought the price was worth the little trouble.

This battery fit like a glove and seems to have plenty of cranking power so far. I use it in a Honda Fury 2010.

Only problem was the oem neg terminal connector on the motorcycle had a tab that had to be cut off with a die grinder, to fit on the negative terminal.

This battery is great! I've had 3 of them. They have only went bad after I neglected to keep them on a tender while not riding. This battery has more CCAs than the stock Yuasa that my RC51 came with. I've never had an issue turning the engine over. Even after having a brain fart and cranking while the kill switch is on! Haha!
