Solar Charge Controllers
Charging batteries with solar power is great on the environment and for batteries. Charging and maintaining batteries through solar will result in better battery performance and longer battery life. With solar chargers rated 15 watts or more, we recommend the use of a solar charge controller. It's no surprise that if a battery reaches full charge, but the sun keeps on shining, you risk overcharging the battery. Solar charge controllers regulate the voltage output from the solar panel and prevent batteries from being overcharged.

Why use a Solar Charge Controller?
We recommend that you use a solar charge controller on any solar system greater than 5 watts.
In simple terms, these units act as an on/off switch for your solar panel. This prevents the panels from overcharging your battery and prevents the battery from back-draining into the panel.
The solar controller measures the voltage in the battery and switches to a float maintenance mode when fully charged. Once the battery voltage drops, the solar charge controller switches back to charge mode and continues to charge when needed.
This allows your panel to act as a smart battery solar charger, giving you worry-free solar battery charging.
