Pro Charging Systems manufactures the Club Car golf cart battery chargers we carry in the USA. Their chargers offer multi-stage charging that both charges and maintains the battery pack after charge. For Club Cars with an onboard computer (OBC), Pro Charging Systems offers two charger styles. One that works with the OBC, while the other types require you to bypass it.
The Japlar Schauer chargers provide a 3-stage charging profile and a selector switch between Flooded/AGM or Gel batteries. Schauer chargers also charge and maintain the battery pack after charge. For Club Cars that utilize an OBC, Shauer provides a bypass wire with their club car cord.

Do I need to bypass the Club Car's OBC?
At BatteryStuff.com, we realize that charging a Club Car can be tricky for Club Cars made between 1995 to 2015. For those 20 years, Club Car used an OBC when charging through a Club Car Cord / 618 receptacle.
Most of our customers chose to bypass the OBC using a bypass wire as the OBC was prone to failure. By bypassing the OBC, our customers can utilize our charger's charging profile, which provides a much better charge.
When choosing a Club Car battery charger for these years, you need to choose whether you will be charging through OBC or bypassing it. For those still wanting to utilize the OBC, we carry the i4818CC618 meant to work with the OBC.
*Bypassing the onboard computer is simple. Our chargers that come with the club car cord / 618 connector will have a bypass wire.
You need to connect this bypass wire to the black terminal on the back of the golf cart’s receptacle. Then connect the other end of the wire to the negative on your battery pack, where the ground goes to the motor and controller.
This will bypass the onboard controller, thus allowing your new Smart charger to work in all its proper charge stages.
